Jamey Batten

Women's Basketball

Head Coach (3rd year)

Alma Mater: Ohio Christian University (2001)

Third year head coach Jamey Batten leads the CCU Golden Eagles into their second season of NAIA competition this year after record breaking seasons in 2008-09 and 2009-10.  The all-freshman Eagles of 2008-09 went on a historic run that rewrote the CCU record books.  CCU went 18-11 in Batten's first year for a winning percentage of .621 which goes down as the best winning percentage of any team in program history.  The Eagles defeated #4 ranked Ohio Christian University in the Mid East Region Semifinals to advance to the championship game where they finished as region runner up.  CCU was then awarded the first ever NCCAA National Championship Tournament berth in program history as the Eagles were awarded the #9 seed.  At the National Tournament, CCU reached the Elite 8 and defeated Baptist Bible College Missouri and Manhattan Christian College in thrilling fashion to finish in 6th place nationally.

The 2009-10 Eagles stepped up to the challenges of NAIA competition and enjoyed another landmark season as CCU went 18-10 on the year.  CCU was ranked as high as 6th in the NCCAA Division I National Poll throughout the regular season and also received the first ever NAIA Top 25 votes in athletic department history.  The Golden Eagles enjoyed several landmark wins including a 79-63 victory over longtime rival Kentucky Christian University.  The win broke a 47 game losing streak dating back the mid 1980's.  CCU basketball also made waves in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as a first year member, defeating conference powers Berea College, Brescia University, Asbury College, Alice Lloyd College, and Midway College as the Eagles went on to finish 6-1 in conference play at home.

“God has blessed our program and brought the right players and personalities together to not only form a team, but a family.  We have brought an exciting brand of basketball to the campus that I think our fans and alumni have really come to enjoy and will be proud of for years to come."

Batten came to CCU after four successful years at Ohio Christian University where served as the Director of Athletics and Head Coach of the men's basketball program.  In his four years of leadership at OCU, Batten helped transform the athletic department and men's basketball program into a conference power and national contender.  During the 2006-07 season, Batten led the Trailblazers to the Mid-East Regional Semifinals and a #11 ranking in the NCCAA National Poll.  His talented 2007-08 recruiting class helped lay the foundation for a team that went on to win a school record 20 games and finish as runner up in the 2008 ACCA National Championship.  During his tenure at OCU, Batten helped produce eleven All Mid-East Region players, four Scholar Athletes, and four All-Americans.

At CCA Prep, Batten served as the Director of Athletics and Head Coach of the men's basketball program.  In 2002, Batten led the Runnin Jaguars to a runner-up finish in the State Tournament where they lost the championship game by just one point.  Four members of that team have gone on to play at the collegiate level, including Jake Santel of the CCU men's basketball team.

In college, Batten played basketball at OCU where he was a four year lettermen and two time team captain under head coach Curtis Christopher.  He was a member of the 1999-2000 team that earned an at large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament.

Batten graduated in 2001 after majoring in Education and Religion.  Batten resides in Cincinnati and is also a licensed minister in the Church of the Nazarene.  He also serves CCU as Sports Information Director and Director of Athletic Recruitment.
